What is Verabid?
Verabid is a registration platform for Australian property auctions. You verify your identity once, then register to bid at any participating agency’s auctions — no paper forms, no queues on auction day.
How do I register to bid on a property?
Find the property on Verabid (search by address, suburb, or the code an agent gave you), open it, and tap Register for Auction. The guided steps walk you through verifying your identity, choosing who’s bidding (you, a company, a trust, an SMSF, or on behalf of someone else), acknowledging and signing the bidder documents, and submitting for the agency to review.
How much does it cost?
Registering to bid through Verabid is free for bidders. You only ever pay the agency the purchase price if you win — Verabid never charges you a bidding fee.
Do I have to register again for every auction?
You register for each auction you want to bid at, but it’s quick. Your verified identity and saved bidding entities (you, a company, trust, or SMSF) are reused across every agency on Verabid, so each new registration only needs the details specific to that property. You don’t re-do your ID check each time.
Identity verification (KYC)
Why do I need to verify my identity?
Agencies are legally required to confirm who they’re dealing with before you can bid. Verifying once on Verabid satisfies that requirement for every auction you register for. See the identity verification guide for the full walkthrough.
What ID do I need?
An Australian driver licence or passport is usually enough. You’ll photograph your ID and take a quick selfie so it can be matched to the document. Have good lighting and make sure the details are readable.
My name doesn’t match — what happens?
If the name on your ID differs from the name on your account or entity (for example, a maiden name or a missing middle name), the agency reviews it manually rather than auto-rejecting. You may be asked for supporting documents. It won’t silently fail.
Bidding as a company, trust, SMSF, or for someone else
Can I bid through my company or trust?
Yes. When you register, choose the entity type — company, trust, or SMSF — and provide its details (ACN/ABN, directors, trustees, or beneficial owners). Verabid checks the company/SMSF against public registries where applicable.
What if another person needs to sign too?
Some entities need more than one person — for example, co-directors of a company, trustees, or beneficial owners. Verabid sends each co-party an SMS invitation to verify their identity and sign their part. Your registration moves to review once everyone has completed their section.
Can I bid on behalf of someone else?
Yes — choose bidding on behalf of another party at registration. You’ll provide the buyer’s details and the authority confirming you’re allowed to bid for them.
Documents & signing
What am I signing?
Each property has a set of bidder documents — typically an acknowledgement of the auction terms and, where required, a guarantee and indemnity. You read each one, tick to acknowledge, then sign on-screen. See the bidder documents guide for detail.
Is my on-screen signature legally valid?
Yes. Electronic signatures are recognised under the Electronic Transactions Act. Your signature is captured with a timestamp and stored securely as a record of what you agreed to and when.
Auction day
How do I know I’m approved?
Once the agency approves your registration you’ll get a notification, and the property shows as approved in your Verabid app with your bidder number. Bring that number — physical or on your phone — to the auction.
What if the auction is today and I’m not approved yet?
Contact the agency directly as early as you can — their details are on the property page. Leaving registration to the last minute risks not being approved in time, since the agency has to review it.
Can I bid online or by phone?
It depends on the auction. When you register you choose your attendance mode — in the room or by phone — where the agency offers it. Phone bidding may require an extra authority to be signed.
Account & privacy
How is my personal information handled?
Your data is handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. See our Privacy Policy for how we collect, use, and store it, and how to request access or deletion.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Settings and follow the account-deletion flow, or email us. Note that records tied to a registration you submitted may need to be retained for compliance, even after your account is closed.
